SANTIAGO DE LOS CABALLEROS – Los Leones del Escogido achieved a resounding 6-0 victory over the Águilas Cibaeñas at the Cibao Stadium, marking the first victory of the new scarlet manager, Ramón Santiago, in the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM).
Lakins Leads the Mound Victory
The performance of pitcher Travis Lakins was key to the victory. He dominated the Eagles’ offense for 4.0 innings, allowing only two hits, without giving up walks and striking out four batters.
The red bullpen completed the shutout with Diógenes Almengó, Fernando Abad, Robinson Martínez and Trevor Kelley, who pitched an episode each without conceding runs.
Lions’ Opportunistic Offense
The Lions’ offense made itself felt early in the game, scoring two runs in the third inning. Junior Lake hit a double and scored thanks to a single by Héctor Rodríguez. Elier Hernández drove in the second run with a double.
In the seventh, the Lions added another run, and in the eighth, they added three more runs. Chadwick Tromp hit a two-run home run, and Junior Lake scored the sixth run.
Héctor Rodríguez had an outstanding offensive performance, batting 4-5 with two RBIs and one run scored. Chadwick Tromp hit a home run and drove in two runs. Junior Lake contributed with a double, three runs scored, and a stolen base.
Leody Taveras and Wilmer Difó also connected an unstoppable one each.

With this victory, the Leones del Escogido improve their record to 14-18, while the Águilas Cibaeñas fall to 23-8.
