SANTIAGO DE LOS CABALLEROS – Los Leones del Escogido achieved a resounding 6-0 victory over the Águilas Cibaeñas at the Cibao Stadium, marking the first victory of the new scarlet manager, Ramón Santiago, in the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM).

Lakins Leads the Mound Victory

The performance of pitcher Travis Lakins was key to the victory. He dominated the Eagles’ offense for 4.0 innings, allowing only two hits, without giving up walks and striking out four batters. The red bullpen completed the shutout with Diógenes Almengó, Fernando Abad, Robinson Martínez and Trevor Kelley, who pitched an episode each without conceding runs.

Lions’ Opportunistic Offense

The Lions’ offense made itself felt early in the game, scoring two runs in the third inning. Junior Lake hit a double and scored thanks to a single by Héctor Rodríguez.
