Ketel Marte Reinforces Dominican Republic for the 2026 World Baseball Classic

The Dominican Republic baseball team strengthens for the 2026 World Baseball Classic with the incorporation of Ketel Marte, a prominent Major League player. The versatile infielder will once again represent his country in the prestigious international tournament.

Ketel Marte, known as “el niño de Nizao”, will participate in his second World Baseball Classic. His experience, offensive skills, and defensive versatility make him a key element for the Dominican team.

The selection already has a core of high-caliber players, including Fernando Tatis Jr. and Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who were previously announced.

The pitching staff has also been significantly reinforced with the addition of left-handed relievers Wandy Peralta and Gregory Soto. Peralta will bring control and experience, while Soto will add power to the bullpen.

The Dominican Republic will begin its participation in Group D of the World Baseball Classic on March 6, facing Nicaragua at 7:00 PM (Eastern Time) at loanDepot park in Miami.
