Ketel Marte Shines with Two Home Runs in D-backs Victory

Dominican second baseman Ketel Marte proved his worth once again, leading the D-backs’ offense in their 8-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park.

Mars connected two home runs and drove in three runs, solidifying himself as a key player on the team. Mars punished Atlanta’s opener, Spencer Strider, with home runs in his first two at-bats.

The first home run, a changeup, traveled 445 feet to center field in the first inning, opening the scoring. In the third, he repeated the feat with a fastball sent 371 feet to right field, with an exit velocity of 113.2 mph, adding two more runs and making the score 4-0.

With these three RBIs, Marte reached 481 in an Arizona uniform, surpassing Steve Finley (479) and placing third on the franchise’s all-time list, behind only Luis González (774) and Paul Goldschmidt (710).

It’s fun to watch Ketel get into that rhythm. When he’s on and rested, he can carry the team. That’s what it looks like.

In addition to Marte, Corbin Carroll also had an outstanding performance, batting 4-3 with two home runs, four RBIs, and four runs scored. His second home run, a three-run blast in the ninth against Rafael Montero, secured Arizona’s victory.

On the mound, Zac Gallen delivered a solid 7.0-inning start, allowing three runs (one earned), with four strikeouts and only one walk. Despite a defensive error that resulted in two unearned runs, Gallen managed to keep the Braves’ offense at bay.

With this triumph, the D-backs celebrate a historic night for one of their offensive leaders.
