Kershaw Nears 3,000 Strikeouts, Leads Dodgers Over Rockies

In a remarkable performance, veteran pitcher Clayton Kershaw continues his path towards baseball history. This Thursday, he led the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 3-1 victory over the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field, adding five strikeouts to his impressive record. Kershaw, who recently rejoined the Dodgers’ rotation, reached 2,997 strikeouts in his 18-season career. He is only three strikeouts away from becoming the twentieth pitcher in Major League history to reach the 3,000 mark, and the third active, along with Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer.

Ohtani and the Decisive Power

Shohei Ohtani once again demonstrated his ability to change the course of a game with a single hit. He connected his 28th home run of the season, an impressive 419-foot shot to right field in the seventh inning, securing the victory for the Dodgers. Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman also contributed to the offense with a couple of RBIs. The Dodgers thus achieved their tenth consecutive victory over the Rockies, including six wins in the current season.

Latin Participation in the Game

Dominican Teoscar Hernández had an outstanding performance, batting 2-for-4, solidifying his good offensive form. Venezuelan Miguel Rojas went 1-for-4, scoring a run. On the other hand, Cuban Andy Pagés and Puerto Rican Kiké Hernández failed to get any hits.

For the Rockies, Brenton Doyle opened the scoring with a solo home run against Kershaw in the second inning, but the team’s offense went cold. Venezuelans Thairo Estrada and Orlando Arcia failed to get hits.

The closer Tanner Scott worked the ninth inning without problems, obtaining his 17th save of the season.
