SANTO DOMINGO – The Dominican Karate Federation (FEDOKARATE) has officially announced the celebration of the Karate Qualifying Championship, a crucial event on the road to the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games. The competition will take place from April 16 to 18 at the Fencing Pavilion of the Olympic Center.
A high-competition event
This championship will bring together more than 165 athletes from over 20 countries in Central America and the Caribbean. Competitors will face off in an intense battle to secure their qualification for the Regional Games to be held in Santo Domingo.José Luis Ramírez, president of the federation, confirmed the presence of José García Mañón, head of the Pan American Karate Confederation, and his team. They will supervise the development of the competition and witness the combat and kata events. The event is supported by the Ministry of Sports, the National Institute of Physical Education, the Dominican Olympic Committee and the organizing committee of the Games, with FEDOKARATE as host. Ramírez indicated that more details about the championship will be announced shortly, which he described as a competition of great technical level, which will bring together the best karatekas in the region, all seeking a place in the Santo Domingo 2026 Games.The tournament will define a total of 144 spots —in both branches— for the 2026 Games.
