Junior Lake Reinforces the Dominican Selection for the 2026 World Baseball Classic
SANTO DOMINGO, RD. – The general manager of the Dominican team, Nelson Cruz, has confirmed the incorporation of the experienced outfielder Junior Lake to the roster of the national team for the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
Lake will take Johan Rojas’ place, who will not be able to participate in the tournament.
Considered one of the most outstanding players in the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), Lake will bring his experience and skills to the Dominican team, reinforcing the outfield line.
Rojas’s suspension is due to a positive result in a doping test, which prevents him from participating in the World Baseball Classic. This situation could result in sanctions from Major League Baseball.
According to reports, Rojas did not show up for the initial gathering of the Dominican team, which raised doubts about his participation. Subsequently, his departure from the tournament was confirmed due to the test result.
