Aaron Judge Returns to Action with the Yankees

Arlington, Texas. The New York Yankees have activated their star, outfielder Aaron Judge, from the injured list. His return to the field comes after a strain in his right elbow flexor that kept him out of action since July 27. The return of Judge, current Most Valuable Player of the American League, coincides with the night game against the Texas Rangers. In addition to Judge’s activation, the team also activated reliever Mark Leiter Jr. and promoted Dominican pitcher Yerry de los Santos from the minor leagues.

The Undisputed Impact of Judge

During the absence of the slugger, the Yankees had a 4-6 record, including a sweep suffered against the Marlins last weekend. In that period, the team batted .231/.311/.399, which demonstrates the offensive importance of Judge, who leads the Major Leagues in batting average (.342), on-base percentage (.449), slugging (.711), and OPS (1.160).

“It’s Aaron Judge. We know what he means for our lineup, for the guys in the clubhouse. We’re excited to have him back. And hopefully, he’ll be ready to play defense soon too.”

Aaron Boone
For the time being, Judge is not expected to resume his defensive responsibilities in right field immediately. Boone indicated that they will evaluate his arm condition when the team returns home this Friday to face the Houston Astros. “Today he did plyometric exercises and will soon start to loosen his arm,” explained the strategist. “His body will tell us when he will be ready to fully return.”
