Santo Domingo. Juan Soto continues to make history in baseball. The outstanding outfielder has established himself as the first player to consecutively win the prestigious Juan Marichal Award, an unprecedented achievement since the award’s creation in 2021. In this edition, Soto, who debuted this season with the Mets, accumulated a total of 443 points in the voting carried out by 100 specialists. The player’s performance was recognized with 56 first-place votes, surpassing Cristopher Sánchez, who obtained second place with 319 points.

The Top 5 was completed by Junior Caminero, José Ramírez, and Freddy Peralta, demonstrating the high competition and Dominican talent in the Major Leagues. The Juan Marichal Award, which honors the best Dominican player of the season in Major League Baseball, featured the participation of 20 players voted from a total of 59 eligible. This demonstrates the extraordinary Dominican talent that shone in MLB during 2025.

Elite Numbers

In his first season with the Mets, Soto established himself as one of the most dominant figures in Major League Baseball. The Dominican established a new personal best with 43 home runs and led the National League in stolen bases (38). His impressive performance included a .263 average, 120 runs scored, 105 RBIs, an on-base percentage of .396 —leading his league— and he led all of Major League Baseball in walks received (127). These numbers allowed Soto to achieve an unprecedented feat: to be the first player to win the Juan Marichal Award in consecutive years and the first to do so with two different teams, after having obtained it in 2024 with the New York Yankees.

The announcement was made this Monday during a press conference held at the Ministry of Sports and Recreation of the Dominican Republic, coinciding with the 88th birthday of Juan Marichal, a member of the Cooperstown Hall of Fame.
