Juan Soto Receives Dominican Minister of Sports in New York

In New York’s iconic Citi Field, the outstanding baseball player Juan Soto welcomed the Minister of Sports and Recreation of the Dominican Republic, Kelvin Cruz, along with his family, on a special day framed within the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States. The meeting, which took place in a cordial atmosphere, served to highlight the importance of this commemorative month, which runs from September 15 to October 15. This period is crucial to recognize the significant contributions of the Hispanic community to the cultural and historical development of the American nation.
During the visit, Soto gifted Minister Cruz a signed jersey and bat, a gesture that was received with great enthusiasm by the Dominican official and his family. In addition, they took the opportunity to share moments, take photographs, and discuss the impact of sports on cultural integration. Juan Soto, who signed a historic 15-year, $765 million contract with the Mets in December 2024, was very happy to share with the Minister. Kelvin Cruz, also mayor-elect of La Vega (2024-2028), was appointed as head of Sports in August 2024 by President Luis Abinader.

Both Soto and Cruz agreed on the relevance of highlighting the influence of Hispanics in American society and the need to continue strengthening the ties between the Dominican Republic and its diaspora through baseball and other cultural expressions.
