The Kenyan athlete John Korir made history this Monday by setting a new record in the Boston Marathon, in its 130th edition. Korir completed the race with an impressive time of 2 hours, 1 minute and 52 seconds, surpassing the previous mark by 70 seconds.
Korir: Double Victory and New Record
For Korir, this victory represents his second consecutive triumph in Boston, solidifying his position in the world of athletics. Furthermore, this achievement adds to his victory in the Chicago Marathon in 2024.
The men’s competition in Boston was particularly fast, as the runners’ times on the podium surpassed the previous record. Tanzanian Alphonce Felix Simbu and Kenyan Benson Kipruto, who finished in second and third place respectively, also achieved notable times of 2h02:47 and 2h02:50.
Kenyan Domination in the Women’s Category
In the women’s category, Kenyan Sharon Lokedi was crowned champion for the second consecutive year, demonstrating her dominance in the competition. Her time was 2h18:51.
The women’s podium was completed by Loice Chemnung and Mary Ngugi-Cooper, ensuring a Kenyan sweep. Chemnung finished in second place with a time of 2h19:35, followed by Ngugi-Cooper with 2h20:07.
