Jazz sign Dominican Andersson García to 10-day NBA contract

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz have announced the addition of Dominican forward Andersson García via a 10-day contract, marking his debut in the NBA.

The franchise has not disclosed the financial terms of the agreement, following its internal policy for this type of temporary contracts.

García, with a height of 2.01 meters and a weight of 107 kilograms, has had a standout season in the NBA G League with the Mexico City Capitanes.

In his time with the Capitanes, García participated in 35 games, starting in 12 of them.

His averages in the G League were 10.9 points per game with 55.6% field goal percentage, 9.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.3 steals in 25.3 minutes of play.

Additionally, Garcia recorded 12 double-doubles, including two games with more than 20 rebounds and three performances with 20 or more points.

Originally from Moca, Dominican Republic, García forged his college career in US college basketball.

He played with the Mississippi State Bulldogs and later with the Texas A&M Aggies.

In his time with Texas A&M, he played 104 games, 16 as a starter, and led the conference in rebounds during the 2023-24 season, averaging 9.1 per game.

This earned him a spot on the Southeastern Conference (SEC) All-Defensive Team.

With this opportunity in Utah, the Dominican player will seek to prove his worth in the league and fight for a permanent place on the team.
