NEW YORK – An unusual object became a collector’s item after an auction that generated great interest: the coffee maker used by the Italian Baseball Team during the 2026 World Baseball Classic. The sale reached $16,510, consolidating its value as an emblematic item of the tournament. The Italian team, known for its coffee tradition, popularized the celebration with espresso in the dugout during the championship. This custom became especially evident after home runs, including those connected by players like Vinnie Pasquantino, who starred in the first three-homer game in the history of the World Baseball Classic. The coffee maker accompanied the Italian team throughout the competition, being considered a good luck charm in their historic participation, which took them to the semifinals. The authenticity of the machine was verified by its use in key matches of the tournament, such as the victory over the United States in the group stage and the triumph against Puerto Rico in the quarterfinals. The funds raised at the auction will be donated to the Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center.

The coffee maker accompanied the team everywhere, becoming part of the team’s culture during the tournament.
