Infantino Downplays U.S. Immigration Policies at Club World Cup
The FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, has downplayed the impact that the United States’ immigration policies will have on the Club World Cup, which begins this Saturday, and on the 2026 World Cup. Infantino assured that fans from “all over the world” will attend both competitions. The event in Miami, prior to the start of the Club World Cup, was the setting for Infantino’s statements, who added: “As always, before the World Cup many topics are discussed, but then when it starts it will be a party.” The start of the Club World Cup coincides with a tightening of immigration policies in the United States. These measures have generated uncertainty about the impact on foreigners who wish to travel to the event and the attendance of immigrants residing in the country. Faced with this situation, Infantino stated he had “no concerns” about the possible intervention of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE) in the soccer stadiums. The immigration policies implemented by the US administration have restricted entry to citizens of several countries. However, exceptions have been established for athletes and members of sports teams participating in important events. Infantino participated in a promotional event for the Club World Cup in Miami, alongside the city’s mayor, Francis Suárez, former footballer Ronaldinho, and the coaches of the teams that will play the opening match: Javier Mascherano (Inter Miami) and José Riveiro (Al Ahly of Egypt).“Each country has its own policies, but we are here for unity. Fans and supporters from all over the world will go to the United States, as well as Mexico and Canada (hosts of next year’s World Cup along with the U.S.),” said Infantino.

Club World Cup Ticket Prices
The FIFA president also referred to the reduction in ticket prices for the Club World Cup, highlighting that it is part of the ticket sales model in the United States. This model, which will also apply to the 2026 World Cup, allows ticket prices to vary according to demand. Infantino emphasized the importance of providing opportunities for fans to attend sporting events.“For any new project you want to create, there are always discussions and you never really know what’s going to happen. One of the best things I learned here in the United States of America is the concept of dynamic pricing,” said Infantino.
