Bryce Harper confirms his participation in the 2026 World Baseball Classic
The Philadelphia Phillies’ star outfielder, Bryce Harper, has announced his intention to represent the United States in the upcoming 2026 World Baseball Classic. This announcement marks Harper’s return to the international scene with his country’s team. Harper, who already has experience representing the United States in younger categories, including the U-16 and U-18 selections in 2008 and 2009, expressed his enthusiasm for wearing the national colors again.Although official confirmation from USA Baseball is still pending, Harper’s participation is subject to the usual selection processes for the tournament. The 33-year-old player was scheduled to participate in the 2023 Classic, but elbow surgery after the 2022 season prevented him from playing. In the previous edition, the United States reached the final, where it was defeated by Japan. Harper comes from a standout season in the Major Leagues, where he hit 27 home runs and recorded an OPS of .844 in 580 plate appearances. If his participation is confirmed, he would join a star-studded American team. The United States will begin its participation in the 2026 World Baseball Classic on March 6, facing Brazil at 8:00 PM (Eastern Time) at Daikin Park in Houston, as part of Group B.I put on the colors on my chest for the first time when I was 15 years old. There is no other feeling like it. I am excited to announce that I will be representing the United States in the Classic. America!
