Bryce Harper confirms his participation in the 2026 World Baseball Classic

The Philadelphia Phillies’ star outfielder, Bryce Harper, has announced his intention to represent the United States in the upcoming 2026 World Baseball Classic. This announcement marks Harper’s return to the international scene with his country’s team. Harper, who already has experience representing the United States in lower categories, expressed his enthusiasm for wearing the national colors again. He excitedly recalled his previous experiences, where he won gold medals with the Under-16 and Under-18 teams in 2008 and 2009.

I first put on the colors on my chest when I was 15 years old. There’s no other feeling like it. I’m excited to announce that I will be representing the United States in the Classic. America!

Although official confirmation from USA Baseball is still pending, Harper’s participation seems very likely, subject to the usual tournament roster adjustments. Harper, who had previously committed to playing in the 2023 Classic, was unable to participate due to elbow surgery following the 2022 season. In the last Major League season, Harper demonstrated his worth with 27 home runs and an OPS of .844 in 580 plate appearances. If his participation is confirmed, Harper would join a star-studded American selection. The United States will begin its participation in the 2026 World Baseball Classic on March 6, facing Brazil at Daikin Park in Houston, as part of Group B.
