Hamilton Out of Q3: Leclerc Dominates in Hungary

The seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton, experienced another difficult qualifying session at the Hungarian Grand Prix, missing out on Q3 and securing only twelfth place on the grid for Sunday’s race. In contrast, his Ferrari teammate, Charles Leclerc, surprised everyone by obtaining pole position, thanks to an impressive final lap.

The team has no problem, you see the car is on pole. So we probably need to change the driver

Visibly frustrated, Hamilton expressed his disappointment both on the team radio and in a subsequent interview, where he described himself as “useless”. This is the third consecutive time that Hamilton fails to advance to the last qualifying round, an unusual event for a driver of his caliber. Hamilton admitted he didn’t feel he could aim for a better result over the weekend, despite his eight previous wins at the Hungaroring. However, he acknowledged the team’s achievement:

It was an incredible qualifying for Ferrari. Charles’ pole demonstrates the great progress we have made.

With this result, Hamilton remains sixth in the championship, behind Leclerc, who is fifth. Ferrari, on the other hand, arrives at the race with new expectations, driven by the speed demonstrated by the Monegasque driver on a circuit where McLaren had dominated all sessions up to Q3.
