Giuseppe Rivas Dominates Yokohama Grand Prix with Double Victory
Santo Domingo – The driver Giuseppe Rivas had an impeccable weekend by accumulating the most available points, after winning the two races of the top category Racing Sedan (RS) and securing the pole position. In this way, Rivas demonstrated his absolute dominance in the Yokohama Grand Prix, held at the Autódromo Internacional Las Américas, at the start of the National Championship of Automobilism and Motorcycling, organized and endorsed by the Dominican Federation of Automobilism (FDA).
Rivas, starting from the first position in the initial race, resisted the pressure from Eric Checo, who remained in second place for several laps. However, technical problems in Checo’s car relegated him to third place. Jonathan Basden, current champion of the category, took second place, showing a competitive performance throughout the race.
The second RS race was even more exciting due to the grid inversion. Rivas started from the last position, while Checo started first and Basden second. The duel kept the fans on the edge of their seats. An unexpected failure in Checo’s car facilitated the advance of Basden and Rivas, who starred in an intense fight. Rivas achieved the decisive overtaking at the TrueShore curve, securing his second victory of the day.Other Notable Results of the Grand Prix
In the SDS PRO category, José Lora took the victory in the second race after a spectacular overtake on Kenny Guilbe. Yorkis Mateo completed the podium in third position. Lora also triumphed in the first race, followed by Mateo and Vladimir González.
In the Amateur division of the SDS, Fernando Mojica won the first race, followed by Bryan Herrera and Wander Álvarez. In the second, Elian Mateo took the victory, with Álvarez in second place and Carlos Rocha in third. In Turismo Nacional, Marcos Pichardo and Halim Gantus shared the top spots in both competitions.
In the Street Touring category, José G. Liz dominated both races. In INDEX TC 30, Néstor Hidalgo won both races.
