Gigantes del Cibao Sign Scott Engler for the 2025-2026 Season

San Francisco de Macorís – The Gigantes del Cibao have announced the signing of American pitcher Scott Engler, marking their first imported reinforcement for the 2025-2026 season of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), which will begin on October 15. Engler, a 28-year-old right-handed reliever, has experience in the Texas Rangers and Minnesota Twins organizations, having played at Double-A and Triple-A levels until the 2024 season. Currently, Engler is active in the Atlantic League with the Lancaster Stormers, where he has shown a high level of performance.

“We announce the signing of right-handed pitcher Scott Engler, who becomes our first reinforcement for the season that will begin on October 15th,” said Alfredo Acebal Rizek, president of baseball operations for the Giants.

Dominance in the Atlantic League

In the current season of the independent league, Engler has a record of 5-1, with an ERA of 2.11 in 40 relief appearances. In 42.2 innings pitched, he has allowed only 30 hits and 10 earned runs, with 18 walks and 47 strikeouts. His WHIP remains at a solid 1.13.

Power Profile

Selected in the 16th round of the 2016 Draft by the Texas Rangers, Engler is known for his aggressive style from the mound and his fastball that ranges between 95 and 98 miles per hour. In addition, he has an arsenal of five pitches and an excellent ability to throw strikes.
