Gary Sánchez Bolsters the Gigantes del Cibao
San Francisco de Macorís – The Gigantes del Cibao have announced the incorporation of the experienced Dominican catcher Gary Sánchez, a strategic move that strengthens the team for the upcoming season of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM).This signing promises to bring experience and solidity to the team, raising expectations for the upcoming season.
Sánchez, a native of Santo Domingo and 32 years old, has accumulated eleven seasons in the Major Leagues, where he has played the catcher position for teams such as the New York Yankees, Minnesota Twins, New York Mets, Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres, and Baltimore Orioles. In the most recent season, the catcher participated in 29 games with the Baltimore Orioles before being affected by an injury. During his time with the Yankees, Sánchez was recognized with two All-Star Game selections, in 2017 and 2019, establishing himself as one of the most outstanding catchers of his generation. In Dominican winter baseball, Gary was selected by the Leones del Escogido in the first round of the 2011 rookie draft.
