SAN FRANCISCO DE MACORÍS – The Gigantes del Cibao have announced a significant addition to their team: catcher Francisco Mejía, selected in the Re-entry Draft of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM). This move significantly strengthens the roster with an experienced, high-performing player in his position.
A Consolidated Receiver in the LIDOM
Francisco Mejía, 30 years old, arrives at the Giants after having participated in eight seasons in the LIDOM. His career includes five campaigns with the Estrellas Orientales and three with the Tigres del Licey, the team with which he played in the recent regular season.

In the last regular series, Francisco Mejía exhibited a remarkable offensive performance, with a batting average of .310, a home run, 11 RBIs, and 10 doubles. His production with the bat and his solid defense have positioned him as one of the best catchers in the tournament.
Career in the LIDOM
Between the 2016 and 2025 seasons, Mejía has participated in 127 games in the LIDOM, accumulating a .246 average, with three home runs, 53 RBIs, 19 doubles, and an OBP of .292. These numbers highlight his consistency and reliability as a catcher.
