SAN FRANCISCO DE MACORÍS – The Cibao Giants’ offense demonstrated its power this Friday, securing a 7-3 victory over the Águilas Cibaeñas in the continuation of the 2025-26 autumn-winter tournament, dedicated to Juan Marichal and in dispute for the Banreservas Cup. Kelvin Gutiérrez led the attack with his bat, while Luis García Jr. and Leury García contributed important hits to secure the victory. With this victory, the Giants tie again with the Tigres del Licey in the standings, both with a record of 15-19. Despite the defeat, the Eagles maintain their dominance in the Copa del Cibao, with a record of 6-3. Gutiérrez shone by connecting his number 12 home run in the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), a solo hit in the second inning against Jorge Tavarez. This home run allowed him to tie Ty Wigginton and Henry Urrutia on the franchise’s historical home run list. Jorge Tavarez, pitcher for the Eagles, took the loss (2-1) after pitching 4.2 innings, allowing seven hits, three runs (two earned), with six strikeouts and one home run, facing 21 batters. Steven Moya relieved Tavarez, pitching 2.1 innings, allowing four hits, two runs, two walks, and three strikeouts. Alberto Pacheco (1-1) took the victory, after an impeccable performance in the fifth inning, retiring the three batters he faced with a strikeout. For the Eagles, Steward Berroa went 1-4 with a run; Leody Taveras went 1-2 with a double, a run, and a walk; Ezequiel Durán batted 2-3 with a double and two RBIs; and John García contributed a double with an RBI from the bench. Regarding the Giants, Luis García Jr. went 1-for-4 with a run and a double; Deyvison De los Santos went 1-for-3 with a run, an RBI, and a walk; Hanser Alberto drove in two runs as a pinch hitter; and Gutiérrez finished 1-for-4 with a home run, a run, and an RBI.
