SAN PEDRO DE MACORÍS – Los Gigantes del Cibao extended their winning streak to four consecutive games, after defeating the Estrellas Orientales with a score of 8-7 in a vibrant game that extended to ten innings at the Tetelo Vargas Stadium. An uncontrolled pitch by Patrick Weigel in the tenth inning allowed Luis García Jr. to score the decisive run, sealing an encounter full of emotions, timely hits and key moments on the mound. With this triumph, the Giants consolidate their position with a record of 17-19, solidifying themselves in third place in the standings. For their part, the Estrellas Orientales fall to 16-22, placing them in fifth position.

Early Attack and Constant Reaction

The Giants relied on the offensive power of Deyvison de los Santos, who hit a two-run home run, and Nomar Mazara, with a solo home run, keeping the team’s offense active throughout the game. The Stars took the lead with a score of 2-0 in the first inning and extended their lead with a home run by Mazara in the third. However, the Giants responded with De los Santos’ two-run homer, closing the score to 6-3. A three-run rally in the sixth inning allowed the Giants to tie the game 6-6. Subsequently, a single by Carlos Peguero drove in the run that put the Giants ahead 7-6 in the seventh.

Stars Tie, But Without Concretizing

The Stars came back to attack in the eighth inning. A sacrifice fly by Miguel Sanó brought the tying run 7-7, but they failed to score the winning run despite having a runner on third base with one out.

Tenth Episode: Decisive Uncontrol

In extra innings, Luis García Jr. started on second base as the automatic runner. After an out, a wild pitch by Weigel moved him to third, and another passed ball allowed the run that decided the game. Down below, Reymin Guduán took responsibility with Robinson Canó as the ghost runner. A line drive by Josh Lester to center field resulted in a double play after a review, and then Jorge Mateo was dominated by the third baseman to end the game.
