In an exciting National Basketball League (LNB) match, Andersson García shone once again, leading the Marineros de Puerto Plata to a victory over the Leones de Santo Domingo with a final score of 95-89 at the Fabio Rafael González sports complex.
Garcia: A Historic Triple-Double
García, with his outstanding experience, was the key figure of the match, recording his third consecutive triple-double. This feat, unprecedented in the 20 seasons of the LNB, included 21 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists. In addition, the player added 4 steals, demonstrating his influence on both sides of the court.
Garcia’s performance not only propelled the Mariners to victory, but also allowed them to recover from a 14-point deficit, evening their record to 4-4.
In terms of offense, García had a field goal percentage of 7 of 13 and an impressive 7 of 11 from the free throw line.
Emmanuel Omogbo contributed 19 points and 9 rebounds, while Luis Feliz added 13 points and 12 points respectively, completing the picture of outstanding players for the Mariners.
Santo Domingo Lions: Highlights
For the Leones, Reggie Quezada led with 31 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. Gerardo Suero contributed 16 points, and Romaine Thomas added 14 points with 4 steals.
Mariners’ Game Domination
The third quarter was crucial for the Mariners, with García leading the counterattack. Omogbo scored two points to give the home team the lead (57-55), and a three-pointer by Junior Martínez extended the difference (66-58). The score at the end of the third quarter was 66-60.
In the last quarter, the Mariners continued their dominance, with Feliz scoring two points for a score of 80-69. A three-pointer by Omogbo increased the lead to 87-77, securing the victory for the Mariners.
The Mariners’ advantage was 81-61 from the second to the last quarter, with Garcia playing a key role, especially with 9 assists in the second half.
First Half: Advantage for the Lions
A 12-0 rally led by Quezada allowed the Lions to take the lead in the first half (28-14). Quezada scored 9 points and Thomas contributed 8.
The Lions maintained a considerable lead for much of the second quarter, but the Mariners managed to close the gap. A steal and a layup by García reduced the difference to 39-45. The first half ended 49-44 in favor of the visitors.
In the first 20 minutes, Quezada scored 17 points (including 3 three-pointers) for the Leones, while García led the Marineros with 15 points and 8 rebounds.
