Freddy Peralta Withdraws from the World Baseball Classic

Dominican pitcher Freddy Peralta has announced that he will not participate in the next World Baseball Classic. The decision, according to Peralta himself, was made with his professional future in mind. Peralta, recently acquired by the New York Mets, explained that his priority is to remain in the training camps of his new team. The main goal is to adapt to the environment, get to know his teammates, and prepare for the upcoming season.

It wasn’t an easy decision, but I think it’s best for me and my career.

The pitcher also revealed that this decision was made in conjunction with his family. Peralta acknowledged the importance of the event and the fans’ desire to see him represent the Dominican Republic. The pitcher, originally from Espaillat province, is 29 years old and has played his entire career in the Major Leagues with the Milwaukee Brewers before being traded to New York. After next season, Peralta will become a free agent, which has generated speculation about possible contract extension negotiations. Peralta is coming off the best season of his career, with a 17-6 record and a 2.70 ERA in 33 starts last season with Milwaukee, solidifying himself as one of the league’s most outstanding pitchers.
