The pre-candidate for the FC Barcelona elections, Víctor Font, has revealed his ambitious proposals for Lionel Messi, including an honorary president appointment, a commercial alliance, and a farewell on the field wearing the blue and garnet jersey.

“Messi has to retire and has to say goodbye to all the culés on the pitch. How depends exclusively, first on his will and his situation at the end of this year, when the World Cup has passed and the season in the MLS has ended, at the end of 2026,” explained Font.

Font emphasized that Messi’s return will depend on his desire and the club’s sporting situation, but stressed that the ideal farewell would be on the field. In an event in Barcelona, Font, who came in second in the previous elections, detailed a plan presented to the Messi family at the end of 2023, when the player was already playing for Inter Miami. This project, developed since 2022 with the collaboration of businessman Gabriel Masfurroll, seeks “reconciliation” between the club and Messi, structured in three key areas: institutional, economic, and sporting.

• Institutional: Appointing Messi as honorary president, a figure that would require a statutory reform and the approval of the members’ assembly. Font considers Messi the best ambassador for the club.
• Economic: Establishing a strategic commercial alliance between Messi and FC Barcelona, studying successful collaboration models in sports.
• Sports: Facilitating a dignified farewell for Messi on the field and a long-term relationship that benefits the club.

Font has reiterated that his candidacy will work to re-establish ties with Messi and make this reconciliation a reality if he obtains the support of the members at the polls. According to Font, Messi was “deceived twice” by the current board, and he assured that this “should never happen again” with any club legend. Font insists that any operation will be approached with “economic rigor and legal viability”, studying different scenarios so as not to compromise the club’s financial stability. The project, according to Font, seeks to combine the recovery of institutional prestige with a sustainable and competitive model, urging the partners to “open a new stage” in the history of FC Barcelona.
