Víctor Font presents ambitious proposals for Lionel Messi at FC Barcelona
The pre-candidate for the FC Barcelona elections, Víctor Font, has revealed an integral plan involving the Argentine star Lionel Messi. Font, who came second in the previous elections, revealed that he has already presented the Messi family with a plan for their return to the club. The project was developed from the end of 2022, while Messi was playing for Inter Miami. In the institutional sphere, it is proposed to name Messi honorary president, a position that would require a statutory reform and the approval of the members’ assembly. Font considers that Messi represents the values of Barcelona and could be its best ambassador worldwide. In economic terms, a strategic commercial alliance is sought, inspired by successful collaboration models such as Michael Jordan with Nike. The objective is to maximize the commercial potential of the relationship between Messi and the club. The sports plan goes beyond a return as a player, contemplating a long-term relationship that allows Messi to say goodbye as he deserves and contribute to the strengthening of the club. Font has indicated that, starting in January 2027, they could begin to “lay the groundwork” for Messi’s return, coinciding with the end of the season in the United States, although Messi’s current contract with Inter Miami ends in December 2028. The pre-candidate has reiterated his commitment to “restore ties” with Messi and make this reconciliation a reality if he obtains the support of the members. Font has assured that his team has studied different scenarios to make this operation possible without compromising the club’s financial stability.Messi has to retire and has to say goodbye to all the culés on the pitch. How depends exclusively, first on his will and his situation at the end of this year, when the World Cup has passed and the season in the MLS has ended, at the end of 2026.
