FIFA has unveiled the official mascots for the FIFA World Cup 2026, an event to be held in Canada, the United States, and Mexico. These mascots, which represent the emblematic fauna of the host countries, promise to add a vibrant and symbolic touch to the tournament. The selected mascots are Maple, the Canadian moose; Zayu, the Mexican jaguar; and Clutch, the American eagle. Each of them has been designed to reflect the cultural richness, legacy, and sporting spirit of their country. In addition, they seek to convey a message of unity, diversity, and passion for football.

“They transmit joy, emotion and that spirit of unity that defines the FIFA World Cup”

Gianni Infantino, FIFA President
FIFA unveiled the mascots through a video posted on their social media, where each animal is shown in a specific position on the playing field.
  • Maple: Represents Canada. He wears the red colors of his country and serves as a goalkeeper, standing out for his creativity and resilience.
  • Zayu: Embodies Mexico and plays as a forward. His agility and speed are his main attributes.
  • Clutch: Symbolizes the United States and plays as a midfielder, motivating his team with energy and determination.
Gianni Infantino, FIFA president, highlighted the importance of these mascots as a key element to create a festive atmosphere during the 2026 World Cup. He also announced that the mascots will be present in a FIFA video game to be released next year. The group stage draw for the World Cup, where 48 national teams will participate for the first time, will take place on December 5th in Washington.
