SANTO DOMINGO OESTE. The Fénix de Herrera Sports and Cultural Club, an emblematic institution in the national and international sports arena, has extended a formal request for support to public and private entities.
The main objective of this request is the provision of uniforms and essential sports equipment for their basketball and volleyball teams.
The request was submitted by technician Raúl Ulerio de la Cruz, who detailed the club’s needs. At least three complete sets of uniforms are required, along with essential basic materials for the practice and formal competition of more than 40 children and young people belonging to the Duarte and Buenos Aires de Herrera sectors.
“The boys are excited, but we need resources to maintain active discipline. Sport is key to the harmony and development of our neighborhoods,” said Ulerio.
Coach Ulerio expressed his gratitude to Ramón Martín Olivo, club secretary, and Ivelisse Valenzuela Hilario, in charge of community and cultural affairs, for their contributions in the form of jackets and financial support for transportation.
Despite the limitations, the club has achieved outstanding participations in tournaments such as the Marlon Lembert Memorial, held annually in the National District, and in matches with teams from the interior of the country.
In addition to the uniforms, Ulerio made an urgent call for the acquisition of a minibus. This vehicle is crucial for the transportation of basketball and volleyball athletes, as well as cyclists who represent the club in national and international competitions, including the Vuelta Independencia, the Grand Prix Punta Cana, and the Clásico Internacional Triple Cien Máster.
During his statement, the coach was accompanied by several children from the U-10, U-13 and U-17 categories, who are active members of the club’s teams.
The Fénix de Herrera Club reiterates its call for institutional solidarity, with the purpose of continuing to train young people in sports, keeping them away from risky environments and promoting community values through physical activity.
