Félix Sánchez Organizes Athletics Checkup with a View to the 2026 Games

The double Olympic champion, Félix Sánchez, led an unofficial athletics check-up with the participation of more than one hundred Dominican athletes. This event is part of the evaluation process in preparation for the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026.

The check-up was carried out on Saturday, January 17, 2026, in Bayaguana, Monte Plata province. It had the support of coach José Rubio and the participation of his athletes. Also present were Gustavo Cuesta, renowned athlete and now coach in San Pedro de Macorís, and Franklin Leyba, coach of Bayaguana.

Among the outstanding athletes who participated are Olympic medalists Alexander Ogando and Lidio Feliz, both from the Félix Sánchez Academy, along with Yancarlos Martínez, Yeral Núñez and Yohandris Andújar. Also competing were Milagros Durán, Bianka Acosta, Robert King, Melbin Marcelino, Estrella De Aza, Patricia Sine and Liranyi Alonzo, champion of the Junior Pan American Games.

The tests included 500 meters, 60 meters hurdles, 60 meters flat, 300 meters, 600 meters, 1,000 meters, and 150 meters, in both the men’s and women’s divisions.

Athletes expressed their satisfaction with this initiative, which allowed them to evaluate themselves for the new season.

Félix Sánchez motivated the athletes and thanked the coaches for their collaboration. Currently, Sánchez works with a large group of athletes in athletics, focused on the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026. These check-ups are established as a crucial tool for the development of Dominican athletics.

Coming soon, the academy team will move to Europe for training camps and international competitions, as part of the preparation plan, with a view to the national selection for Santo Domingo 2026.
