In a moving ceremony held in the Seventh Heaven of the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium, tribute was paid to the outstanding former outfielder Félix José, an emblematic figure of Dominican baseball. The event, organized by “Los Dominicanos Primero Cuqui Córdova”, recognized José’s brilliant career, dedicating this year’s edition to his legacy. Simultaneously, V Energy S.A., a subsidiary of TotalEnergies in the Dominican Republic, officially announced the awards corresponding to the 2025-2026 winter baseball season.

The ceremony was attended by Carmen Barceló, general director and country chair of TotalEnergies, along with Demetrio Almonte (Retail director and institutional relations), Marjorie Martínez (marketing and communications manager) and Carlos Córdoba, son of the legendary chronicler Emilio Nicolás “Cuqui” Córdova, founder of the award.

Félix José: An Icon of Dominican Baseball

Félix José, recognized as one of the most charismatic hitters in local baseball, left an indelible mark on both winter ball and Major League Baseball. His impressive performance led him to be the historical home run leader in the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), with 60 home runs, setting a record that marked an era. During the event, José shared an inspiring message for the new generations:

Categories and Selection Process

Once the regular season is over, the winners will be selected in the following categories:

• Most Valuable Player
• Best Pitcher
• Rookie of the Year
• Veteran of the Year
• Most Outstanding Manager

The selection of the winners will be in charge of the journalists of the Original Jury and accredited sports reporters, through digital voting. This jury will also choose the Most Valuable Player of the semifinal and award the Gold Gloves by position. The results will be released through traditional media and on the social networks of the awards and TotalEnergies.
