Fedombal Successfully Concludes National Arbitration Clinic
The Dominican Basketball Federation (Fedombal), in collaboration with the Dominican College of Basketball Referees and Scorers (Codoabal), successfully concluded the XXVI National Recertification Clinic for National Referees and Aspirants. Continuous training remains a fundamental pillar to ensure the quality and stability of refereeing in Dominican basketball. This training session, held from January 16 to 18 at the Dominican Olympic Hostel (Alodom), in Ensanche La Fe, impacted more than 50 technicians from various regions of the country. Of these, 45 participated in the renewal of their national license, while eight referees sought to be promoted from regional to national license.The president of Fedombal, engineer Rafael Uribe, emphasized the importance of continuous training and constant updating for the referees. At the event, he was accompanied by the vice president of the entity, Junior Páez (Jipy). Instructors Ambiorix Cruz and Paola Cuello, from Santiago, along with Reynaldo Mercedes, from Moca, Espaillat province, were in charge of the sessions. They addressed the new regulations, changes, and updates to the FIBA rules. Among the topics discussed were key aspects of arbitration, such as the use of the whistle, first impressions, mindset, self-discipline, teamwork, alternate possession, the shot clock, instant replay, types of fouls, correctable errors, common sense, and the unification of criteria. Melvyn López and Víctor Peña participated as guest speakers, offering talks on the role of coaches and their interaction with referees in the game. The general coordination and supervision of the event was in charge of Ramón Ceballos, national technical director of Fedombal; Pedro Ortiz, director of the Referees Academy; technical commissioners Víctor Sierra and Carlos Gerónimo; Joan Molina, representative of the National Basketball Super League (LNB); and Professor Nelson Ramírez. With this initiative, Fedombal and Codoabal reaffirm their commitment to strengthening national arbitration, promoting technical excellence and the integral development of Dominican basketball.Constant preparation is the basis for a correct application of the rules of basketball.
