SANTIAGO DE LOS CABALLEROS – Los Leones del Escogido demonstrated their strength in the fight for the pass to the Round Robin by defeating the Águilas Cibaeñas with a score of 8-5 in an exciting match held at the Cibao stadium.
With this victory, the scarlet team consolidates its record at 21-25, maintaining the tie with the Estrellas Orientales in third place in the championship. For their part, the Eagles, despite the defeat, continue to lead the table with a solid record of 30-15.

The Escogido started off on the right foot, scoring a run in the first inning against starting pitcher Dinelson Lamet. Socrates Brito hit a double to center field and later scored thanks to a single by Yainer Díaz.
The capital’s offensive continued its attack in the second inning. Franchy Cordero hit a double, advanced to third and scored after a wild pitch from Lamet. José Marmolejos followed with a double, also scoring on a passed ball.
The Eagles responded in the bottom of the second inning with a sacrifice fly from Jerar Encarnación, driving in Durán.
Travis Lakins earned the win with a stellar performance of five innings, allowing only one run, three hits, and one walk.
In the sixth episode, the Lions extended their lead. Marmolejos drove in Pedro Severino, and a double steal allowed Jonathan Araúz to score. Marmolejos scored on a single by Jonathan Guzmán.
The Águilas reacted with a home run by Elih Marrero, but the Escogido responded with two runs in the eighth inning, driven in by a double from Marmolejos.
Aneurys Zabala closed the game in the ninth inning, securing the save (1). The loss went to Lamet (1-3).

For the Escogido, José Marmolejos shined with an outstanding 4-3, including two doubles, two RBIs, two runs scored, and one stolen base. Jonathan Guzmán contributed a 4-2 with two RBIs; Sócrates Brito, 5-2 with a double and Yamaico Navarro, 5-2 with a run scored.
For the Águilas, Elih Marrero hit a home run and drove in three runs. Juan Lagares also contributed with a run batted in and a run scored.
