Leones del Escogido celebrate their championship with a triumphant caravan
Santo Domingo – Los Leones del Escogido celebrated their 18th championship with a vibrant caravan that toured the main avenues and streets of the capital. Thousands of fans joined the celebration, showing their support along the way.
The parade, which started at 3:00 in the afternoon from the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium, was a spectacle of joy and enthusiasm. The caravan advanced along Tiradentes Avenue to John F. Kennedy Avenue, extending towards the east of the city and passing through Josefa Brea Street, as well as Mexico and Máximo Gómez Avenues.
The tour continued south of Santo Domingo, reaching the capital’s malecón and following Abraham Lincoln Avenue. Finally, the caravan returned to John F. Kennedy Avenue, with its final destination at the Quisqueya Stadium, where it concluded after 7:00 p.m.
Players, coaching staff, directors, family members, the mascot Rufo, and general staff of the national two-time champions were part of the entourage, accompanied by a multitude of vehicles and motorcycles. The fans waved red flags and celebrated with fervor in the streets.
The celebration was led by leader Ramón Santiago, general manager Carlos Peña and outstanding players such as Sócrates Brito, Franchy Cordero, Héctor Rodríguez, Yamaico Navarro, José Marmolejos and Jimmy Paredes, among others.
High-ranking executives from the Escogido Baseball Club, including its president Eduardo Najri; executive vice president and treasurer Fernando Armenteros, and director José Miguel Bonetti Du Breil, also participated in the celebration.
After the celebration, the Leones del Escogido are preparing for the Caribbean Series, where they will seek the two-time championship and add their sixth Caribbean title, in addition to contributing the number 24 crown for the Dominican Republic. The team will travel to Mexico between this Friday and Saturday.
