Lions and Bulls Dominate the LIDOM Semifinals
Santo Domingo – The Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) continues its exciting semifinal phase, with the Leones del Escogido and the Toros del Este leading the standings after a key day.
The long-haired ones consolidated their position with a resounding victory, while the Bulls demonstrated their offensive power in a separate match.
Chosen: Steadfast Step Towards the Final
The Leones del Escogido improved their record to 7-2, after defeating the Gigantes del Cibao with a score of 5-0. The Gigantes, for their part, have not yet achieved a victory in this stage, with a worrying 0-9 and are approaching elimination.
The scarlet team built their triumph with three runs in the third inning, complemented by a two-run home run by Pedro Severino.
Travis Lakins Sr. (2-0) was the winning pitcher, with an outstanding performance of 5.2 innings, allowing only two hits. The Lions are preparing for their next challenge in Santiago, facing the Águilas Cibaeñas at the Cibao Stadium.
Toros del Este: Unstoppable Offense
In the other game of the night, the Toros del Este demonstrated their offensive strength by defeating the Águilas Cibaeñas with a score of 17-1. This defeat represents the most lopsided of the season for the Águilas.
Rafael Lantigua led the attack with three RBIs, while four other players contributed with two RBIs each. With this victory, the Toros tie the Escogido at the top of the table, both with a 7-2 record. The Águilas fall to 4-5, three games from the top.
Justin Courtney (1-1) earned the victory, while Jorge Tavárez (0-2) took the loss. The Bulls now return home to face the Gigantes del Cibao.
