Eloy Jiménez wins the “Juancito Sport Most Valuable Player” award of the Round Robin
The Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), along with Juancito Sport, awarded the “Most Valuable Player Juancito Sport” award to Eloy Jiménez, of the Toros del Este, after his outstanding performance in the Round Robin. The recognition was based on the results of the vote held by the national sports press, using a weighted scoring system. During the ceremony, Jiménez received a trophy and a financial incentive, as a sign of recognition for his outstanding performance in the semifinal stage of the championship dedicated to Don Juan Marichal. Shantal Disla, Brand Director of LIDOM, and Angelo Rodríguez, Marketing Manager of Juancito Sport, were in charge of presenting the award. Jiménez was accompanied by Jorge Sturla, executive vice president of the Toros del Este, and Teoscar Hernández, Major League baseball player and member of the taurine organization.The award ceremony took place before the fourth game of the Final Series between the Toros del Este and the Leones del Escogido, held at the Francisco A. Micheli stadium in La Romana. Jiménez led the voting by accumulating 247 points, the result of 54 votes, including 21 first-place votes. The starter participated in all 18 games of the Round Robin, being a key piece in the Toros’ offense. In the semifinal phase, the right-handed batter recorded a .278 average, a .312 on-base percentage, and a .458 slugging percentage, for an OPS of .770.
