Toros del Este defeat Gigantes del Cibao in an exciting match
SAN FRANCISCO DE MACORÍS – The Toros del Este defeated the Gigantes del Cibao 3-1 this Saturday at the Julián Javier Stadium, thus continuing their participation in the Round Robin of the 2025-2026 Dominican Baseball League tournament.
The Bulls’ offense was led by Eloy Jiménez, who had an outstanding performance and effective work from the mound, sealing the victory.
Jiménez hit a two-run double, extending his streak to three consecutive games driving in runs and adding hits in five of the six games played in this semifinal phase.
Starting pitcher Jaime Barria had a solid performance of 4.2 innings, allowing one run, three hits, two walks and striking out five batters, however, he left without a decision.
The Toros’ bullpen was key in limiting the Giants’ offense, who batted 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position, leaving 11 men on base. The Toros’ pitching staff accumulated 12 strikeouts.
The victory went to Yaramil Hiraldo (1-0), who pitched a scoreless inning with two strikeouts. Joe Corbett earned the save (2), while Daniel Mengden (0-1) took the loss.
