Águilas Cibaeñas vs. Leones del Escogido: Early Opening Game

The first Round Robin matchup between the Águilas Cibaeñas and the Leones del Escogido has been rescheduled. The game, originally scheduled for 6:00 PM, will now begin at 5:00 PM.

This schedule change was agreed upon between both teams and the LIDOM, seeking to avoid overlaps with an artistic event that will take place at the Arena del Cibao Dr. Óscar Gobaira. Both facilities share parking areas, so this adjustment will facilitate the exit of vehicles and provide greater comfort to the fans.

The Águilas Cibaeñas reach this semifinal stage after leading the regular season, finishing in first place with a record of 32-17. For their part, the Leones del Escogido qualified in fourth position, with a record of 23-27. The leader Luis “Pipe” Urueta has announced Jorge Tavárez as the starting pitcher for the opening game. Tavárez was a key figure in the Aguiluchos’ pitching during the regular season. Tavárez recorded a 4-1 record, with an ERA of 1.49 and a WHIP of 0.90, participating in eight games, seven of them as a starter. In 36.0 innings, he allowed 24 hits, six earned runs, walked nine batters and struck out 27 batters. The Cibao team will have six players acquired in the Re-entry Draft: Cristhian Adames, Óscar De la Cruz, Misael Tamarez, Yunior Marte, Carlos Belén and Andrew Pérez, who will reinforce the team in this crucial phase. Las Águilas Cibaeñas start the Round Robin with high expectations, driven by their collective performance and the acquired reinforcements, with their sights set on the Dominican baseball Final Series.
