Dominican Republic to Host the 2026 Caribbean Handball Cup

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – The Dominican Handball Federation (FEDOBAL) has been unanimously chosen to host the Caribbean Handball Cup, a crucial qualifying event for the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026. The decision was made during a meeting led by the president of FEDOBAL, Miguel Rivera, along with representatives from the Central American and Caribbean federations, and the president of the Handball Confederation of North America and the Caribbean, Mario García de la Torre. The meeting, held in the country, addressed the organizational details of the regional tournament, a key event in the Olympic cycle. The choice of the Dominican Republic is based on confidence in the local organizational structure, sports facilities, hotel capacity, and the security that the country offers. The Caribbean Handball Cup, in its men’s division, will take place from April 27 to May 2. The women’s version will be held from May 25 to 30. The president of FEDOBAL, Miguel Rivera, expressed his gratitude for the unanimous support and assured that the organizing committee will strive to meet the highest international standards.

“We undertake this commitment with responsibility and enthusiasm. We guarantee an event that meets the technical and organizational demands of regional handball,” Rivera indicated.

This tournament will define the spots for the 2026 Games and will serve as a test event for the sports facilities. As part of the agenda, the presidents of the federations conducted an inspection of the competition and training venues, positively assessing the progress in the modernization of the infrastructures.
