The Dominican Republic national basketball team demonstrated its superiority by defeating Nicaragua with a resounding score of 86-61. This triumph, obtained in the Second Qualifying Window, marks the team’s second consecutive victory on its path to the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027. With this result, the Dominican combined raises its record to 3-1, consolidating itself at the top of Group A, tied with the United States. The United States also secured its place in the next phase after its victory over Mexico. The match took place at the Alexis Argüello Sports Center in Managua, where the home team started with an advantage in the first quarter (18-14). However, the Dominican reaction was immediate, dominating the second quarter with a score of 30-18 and taking the lead with a 44-36 at halftime. In the second half, the team led by Néstor García maintained control of the game. The Dominicans won the third quarter 23-13 and closed the last one with a 19-12, widening the difference and securing a 25-point victory.

The Dominican offensive featured outstanding performances. Joel Soriano led with 17 points and eight rebounds, followed by Ángel Delgado with 14 points. Ángel Núñez shone with 12 points, including four three-pointers. Anderson García also contributed with 12 points and seven rebounds.
