Luka Dončić Fined for Inappropriate Gesture in the NBA

The NBA has announced a $50,000 fine for Slovenian player Luka Dončić, due to a gesture considered inappropriate towards a referee during a recent game.

The league reported that the Lakers’ point guard was penalized for making a gesture with both hands simulating money, directed at the refereeing staff. This action was described by the NBA as “unprofessional and inappropriate”.

The incident took place during the weekend’s match between the Lakers and the New York Knicks.

The situation occurred after a play in which Dončić fell to the ground after contact with Mohamed Diawara, a Knicks player. In a Knicks counterattack, after a turnover by Dončić himself, the player claimed an offensive foul that was not sanctioned by the referees.

Visibly annoyed by the referee’s decision, Dončić made the gesture that resulted in the financial sanction.

The moment occurred with 4:35 left in the third quarter, in the game held at the Crypto.com Arena, in Los Angeles.

Despite the incident, the Lakers secured the victory with a score of 110-97. Dončić once again was one of the outstanding offensive figures of the team.

The Slovenian point guard continues with an outstanding season, averaging 32.5 points per game, establishing himself as one of the team’s stars and a key figure in the season.
