RD ready for its first warm-up match towards the 2026 World Baseball Classic
Santo Domingo – The Dominican baseball team is preparing for its first exhibition game this Tuesday against the Detroit Tigers. The game is scheduled for 7:00 PM at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium, after a practice that filled the fans with enthusiasm.
Hundreds of fans gathered in the stadium stands to witness the team’s first training session on Dominican soil. The atmosphere was marked by camaraderie, laughter, and constant conversations among the players, showing the good chemistry that exists from the beginning of the concentration.
The pitchers, led by Sandy Alcántara, began the session to applause. Then, the defensive work showed the quality of the squad, with coordinated movements in the infield and multiple plays that demonstrate the depth of the team.
One of the highlights of the practice was batting practice. Soto started the power demonstration with a home run, followed by other batters. However, Tatis Jr. stole the show by hitting four home runs in a row, which drew applause from those present.
Leader Albert Pujols has established clear roles from day one, a decision that, according to the players themselves, has been key to maintaining harmony. In addition, the designation of Manny Machado as captain has been accepted with respect and support by the entire team.
Guerrero Jr. reiterated that each member is willing to fulfill the role assigned to them for the benefit of the country, while Julio Rodriguez valued the direct communication of the technical staff as a key factor for cohesion.
