Dominican Republic Unveils Stellar Roster for the 2026 World Baseball Classic

Santo Domingo – The Dominican Republic National Team has officially announced the roster of players who will represent the country in the upcoming 2026 World Baseball Classic. The team, packed with Major League stars and talent in all positions, promises a memorable performance. The starting lineup presented includes renowned figures such as Juan Soto in the outfield, Julio Rodríguez in center, and Fernando Tatís Jr. in right. Manny Machado will take third base, Geraldo Perdomo will play shortstop, Ketel Marte at second, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. at first. The bench is also well-equipped with high-caliber players such as Oneil Cruz, Jeremy Peña, Agustín Ramírez, Johan Rojas, Amed Rosario, and Carlos Santana. Austin Wells will be the starting catcher.

An Elite Pitching Staff

The pitching staff is led by Sandy Alcántara, Cristopher Sánchez, Brayan Bello, and Luis Severino as starters. The bullpen features experienced pitchers such as Albert Abreu, Elvis Alvarado, Huáscar Brzozván, Seranthony Domínguez, Camilo Doval, Carlos Estévez, Dennis Santana, Gregory Soto, Edwin Uceta, and Abner Uribe. This group of 30 players was officially sent to Major League Baseball (MLB) by the management of the Dominican selection for the tournament. The team’s formation was led by general manager Nelson Cruz, with the support of the president of the Dominican Baseball Federation, Juan Núñez, and an advisory staff made up of Hall of Fame figures.

The legends of national baseball expressed full confidence in the selected group.

Juan Marichal highlighted the management’s leadership and the real possibility of competing for the title; Pedro Martínez emphasized the strength of the pitching staff; and David Ortiz valued the talent and ability of the roster to contend at the highest level. Likewise, Edwin Encarnación affirmed that the country can be proud of the roster and the effort that will defend the Dominican flag.
