Santo Domingo – The Dominican baseball team will begin its preparation for the 2026 World Baseball Classic on February 28th. General Manager Nelson Cruz announced that the called-up players will gather in Miami to begin training.

March 1st will be dedicated to official practices, media sessions, photo sessions, and uniform organization. Subsequently, on March 2nd, the delegation will travel to the Dominican Republic to continue their preparation on national territory.

It’s going to be something historic. Never before has the Dominican team come to play in the country in a World Classic.

This event will mark a milestone in Dominican baseball history, as it will be the first time in the 20 years of the World Baseball Classic that the national team will play exhibition games in the country.

The exhibition games against the Detroit Tigers, scheduled for March 3rd and 4th, will be the final stage of preparation before the official debut in the tournament. This will give Dominican fans the opportunity to see their team in action at home for the first time.
