Adadis Los Valientes del Cibao Seeks Support for Tournament in Puerto Rico
The Association of Athletes with Disabilities (Adadis) Los Valientes del Cibao, is seeking financial support to represent the Dominican Republic in an important basketball tournament to be held in Puerto Rico from June 20 to 23. Joel Mercado, president of Adadis, expressed his concern about the lack of resources to cover the necessary expenses for participation in the sporting event. The association requires a total of 346 thousand pesos, intended to cover flights, accommodation, food and other expenses related to the competition.Market called upon all institutions that have been requested for support through letters, urging collaboration to make the participation of the athletes in this tournament on the island possible. Teresa Cepeda, a member of the adapted basketball team, reported that letters have been sent to various public institutions, including the First Lady of the Republic, Raquel Arbaje, without receiving a response so far. Faced with the lack of response from the Ministry of Sports and other institutions to which aid was requested, Adadis has enabled a bank account to receive donations and raise funds. People interested in supporting the athletes can make their contributions to the bank account 960 561 62 5214 of Banco de Reservas.“We thank God for giving us the opportunity to participate and be able to represent our country. We are very concerned because we have a budget situation,” Mercado asserted.
