TAMPA, FLORIDA – Jasson Domínguez, the young Dominican outfielder with great potential, has been sent to Triple-A by the New York Yankees, despite his outstanding performance in MLB spring training. The decision, communicated before a Grapefruit League game, is primarily due to the intense competition in the New York team’s outfield. This limited the 23-year-old player’s opportunities to be part of the roster for Opening Day. Domínguez demonstrated his potential in the preseason, with a batting average of .325, including two doubles, three home runs, 10 RBIs, and three stolen bases in 14 games. He showed his offensive ability and versatility in the field.

I go day by day, trying to do my job. The decision is not in my hands.

Jasson DomínguezThe management, led by Brian Cashman, had anticipated that the most beneficial thing for the outfielder’s development would be to have regular turns, something that was not assured on the main team due to the depth of the roster. The landscape in the Yankees’ gardens features big names like Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and recent additions Cody Bellinger, as well as players like Trent Grisham and Randal Grichuk, reducing the chances for Domínguez. Despite this assignment to the minor leagues, manager Aaron Boone assured that Domínguez will play an important role in the Major Leagues during the 2026 season, leaving open the possibility of an early return. In other moves, the Yankees also sent pitchers Kervin Castro and Yerry de los Santos to Triple A, while other players were reassigned to minor league camp. Domínguez, considered one of the most promising young talents in the organization, will continue his development in Triple-A with the aim of consolidating himself at the highest level in the near future.
