Deyvison de los Santos leads victory for the Gigantes del Cibao
In a standout offensive performance, Deyvison de los Santos hit his fifth home run of the season, propelling the Gigantes del Cibao to a 4-1 victory over the Leones del Escogido in Saturday’s game of the Dominican Baseball League (LIDOM), dedicated to Juan Marichal and in contention for the Banreservas Cup.
With this triumph, the Giants improve their record to 21-26, tying the Tigres del Licey and being half a game away from the fourth qualifying position, just three games from the end of the Regular Series.
The competition to advance to the next phase intensifies, as Gigantes and Licey will face each other in the last two games of the regular season: on Monday in San Francisco de Macorís and on Tuesday in Santo Domingo.
De los Santos opened the offensive path with a two-run home run in the fourth inning, with one out and Luis García Jr. on base, against starting pitcher Tyler Danish.
Danish worked 3.1 innings, allowing two hits and two earned runs, giving one walk and striking out three batters.
From the mound, Cristopher Molina had a solid performance pitching 3.2 scoreless innings, allowing four hits, one walk, and striking out two.
Blake Wilman (2-0) took the win by getting the last out of the fourth inning.For the Leones del Escogido, Junior Lake, Erik González, and Sócrates Brito each hit a single. Elier Hernández went 1-1 with a run scored and Freudy Batista drove in a run. Pedro Severino and Jonathan Araúz also hit singles.

This Sunday, the Gigantes del Cibao will visit the Leones del Escogido in Santo Domingo.
The Estrellas Orientales will face the Águilas Cibaeñas in Santiago from 4:00 p.m., while the Tigres del Licey will face the Toros del Este in La Romana starting at 5:00 in the afternoon.
