David Jones Reaffirms Commitment to the Dominican Republic Basketball Selection
Dominican guard David Jones has reiterated his firm commitment to the national basketball team, ensuring his availability for future call-ups. The player, originally from Guachupita, expressed his dedication to representing his country in international competitions.Jones, who recently signed a dual contract with the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA, is preparing for the 2025 AmeriCup Championship. This tournament, which will bring together the 12 best teams on the continent, will be held in Managua, Nicaragua, from August 22 to 31. The player remembered his career representing the Dominican Republic since the youth categories, always with “heart, soul and spirit”. His goal is to contribute to the country’s success in every international tournament. The selection, led by Néstor “Ché” García, is carrying out its training sessions at the National Minibasketball House, located in the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center. The morning sessions are held throughout the week, with a double session on Thursdays. The team combines youth and experience, featuring prominent figures such as Eloy Vargas, Jean Montero, Andrés Feliz, Joel Soriano, Juan Miguel Suero, and Ángel Delgado, in addition to young talents like Anyeuri Castillo and Rey Abad. Once the LNB Super League final between Titanes del Sur and Metros de Santiago concludes, the incorporation of key veterans is expected, including captain Víctor Liz, Richard Bautista, and Luis Montero. Dominican Republic will compete in Group C along with Argentina, Colombia, and Nicaragua, the host country. The tournament also includes Canada, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, and Panama in Group B, and the United States, Brazil, Uruguay, and Bahamas in Group A.
