London – Marc Cucurella, Spanish left-back for Chelsea FC, will be out of action for three to four weeks due to a hamstring injury, according to sources close to the player.
Cucurella suffered discomfort last Tuesday during the 2-2 draw against Leeds United, being substituted at halftime. Medical tests carried out this Thursday confirmed the muscle injury, which prevented him from playing in Chelsea’s victory against Hull City (0-4) in the FA Cup.
The player is presenting “a hamstring problem.”
The Catalan defender has been a key player this season, participating in 35 official matches and establishing himself as a fundamental part of the team. In addition, he is regularly called up by the Spanish national team led by Luis de la Fuente.
If the recovery goes as planned, Cucurella could be available for the Finalissima that Spain will play against Argentina on March 27th at the Lusail stadium in Qatar, as well as for the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada that will begin in June.
Chelsea’s medical staff will monitor his progress in the coming weeks to ensure his return in optimal condition for the final stretch of the season.
