Santo Domingo – The Ministers of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, and Housing and Buildings, Víctor (Ito) Bisonó, conducted a thorough inspection of the sports venues being prepared for the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026. The main focus of the visit was the Olympic pool, where a crucial water conservation test was carried out. The results were satisfactory, confirming the delivery of the facility by the end of this month.
Progress in Various Facilities
The delegation, made up of ministers Cruz and Bisonó, also supervised the progress in the Combat Pavilion, the Volleyball Palace and the boxing area. In each of these spaces, they met with the contractors and presidents of the sports federations. Among those present were Radhamés Tavares, president of the Dominican Swimming Federation, and Rubén García, president of the Dominican Boxing Federation.Minister Bisonó expressed his satisfaction with the progress.We have entered the final stretch and will be here frequently, seeing the realities firsthand and organizing solutions. President Luis Abinader’s wish is that we are on top of the issue, which is a priority.

In the inspection were present José P. Monegro, president of the Games Organizing Committee; Garibaldy Bautista, president of the Dominican Olympic Committee, and vice ministers from both portfolios. The Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 will take place from July 24 to August 8.We are approaching the federations so that we can meet, as Dominicans, this challenge and that these facilities are ready to continue being a sports lung.
