Pimentel Crowned U10 National Champion in Thrilling Final
The Pimentel team, representing Duarte province, won the title of champion of the 5th National U10 Championship, taking home the Nelson Cruz cup. The victory was achieved after a vibrant match where they defeated the Cotuí team with a score of 7-4. The final, which took place at the facilities of the Dominican Republic Army, was the culmination of a tournament dedicated to Norma Díaz. The Dominican Baseball Federation was in charge of organizing the event.The championship began last November 9th with the participation of 66 teams. Only three managed to advance to the final, where they faced each other in a league format to define the champion.
On the road to the final, the Serrano League achieved an 8-0 knockout victory over the Norma Díaz League. For its part, Cotuí also secured its pass after defeating the Norma Díaz League with a score of 15-7. In the final, the Cotuí team, representing Sánchez Ramírez, obtained second place, while the Norma Díaz League took third place. Norma Díaz, to whom the event was dedicated, was present at the first two games of the final, demonstrating her support for the tournament. José Luis Vargas, pitcher for La Liga Serra, was recognized as the Most Valuable Player of the final. Willy Rodríguez, for his part, was the champion manager. This U10 National Championship represented the closing of the development and invitation tournaments of the Dominican Baseball Federation (Fedom), headed by its president Juan Núñez. The 5th U10 National Championship was supported by various institutions, including the Dominican State Economic Dining Halls, Grupo de Medios Panorama, VTV Channel 32, the Ministry of Sports and Recreation (Miderec), and the Dominican Republic Army.
